Do I understand that it simply isn't possible to change the name of an icon on the home screen? The app I downloaded comes with a name that is not informative, and I'd like to change it. We're talking iOS 16.1.2. I could make a shortcut with the revised name, but the original name is still polluting my home screen.

To my understanding, there is no way to change the actually app names besides creating a shortcut. Any higher levels please clarify.

OK, thanks. I'll accept that. But how can I remove the icon for the app with the uninformative name from the home screen without entirely deleting the app (which would fry the shortcut)? I really don't need both a shortcut to an app and the icon for the itself on the home screen together.
