4K Apple TV remote won’t turn on Onkyo

My 4K Apple TV remote will turn on and off my LG TV. But will only turn off my Onkyo TX-NR696 receiver. It will not turn the receiver on. Oddly, it used to and after this big storm with a power outage it stopped.

The receiver has CEC on. It’s set to wake via Bluetooth. The ATV is set to control TVs and Receivers. Volume control is Auto via HDMI and does control the receiver volume. It just won’t start it up (and it is in hybrid standby). Any help is appreciated!

Thanks for that link. I have dug in and Onkyo site is somewhat confusing when trying to find the instructions to do this on the TX-NR696. They refer to HDMI CEC (RIHD) in the same breath repeatedly, not separating them into being able to disable one over the other.

" Set the HDMI CEC (RIHD) setting of the unit to "On". Press RECEIVER and then SETUP on the remote controller, select "Setup" - "6. Hardware" - "HDMI" - "HDMI CEC (RIHD)" and set to "Yes".

The other confusing part of that is the remote for the unit does not have "receiver" and "setup" on the controller. There is the general set up button, which you can navigate to and HDMI CEC (RIHD) is set to "Yes."

I come back to my original head scratch which is the Apple TV will turn everything off, Onkyo included. But it will not turn the Onkyo on.

Is it possible the LG TV (CEC compliant) and Apple are "competing" for the turn-on?
