Mac not accepting correct Apple ID password

I am trying to log into iTunes on my Mac. A pop-up comes up asking for my apple ID login. Each time I enter my (correct) password, it just asks again/doesn't accept the login credentials. I changed my password several times; it just won't accept it no matter what!! The app store's pop-up is highly annoying as it blocks all windows and doesn't go behind them. I'm using Monterey 12.0.1.

Hello malishaq,

It sounds like you were able to log in to your Apple ID, so that would confirm the password is correct - especially given it was reset. If the prompt for the Apple ID continues, then we'd recommend that you contact Apple Support so they can investigate this.

If you are seeing a prompt asking for an older Apple ID, or if you had one, that can be expected. Content is linked to the Apple ID used to purchase and/or download it. So if you had a former Apple ID, you may need to enter that to validate old purchases.
