Trouble syncing MacBook email with iPhone email using Gmail

Hi,

Something has changed on my setup recently and my emails have stopped syncing in 1 direction.

If I open or delete an email on MacBook it will open or delete on my iPhone. The issue is, if I open or delete an email on my iPhone, it neither opens nor deletes on my MacBook. So it works fine 1 way but not the other.

Its a gmail email account that I'm using on the Mail app. It never used to be an issue.

Any ideas on how to solve this? Thanks
