Apple mail not syncing with Yahoo mail

I have the same problem with Apple Mail on MACOS, IPADOS and iOS (All latest versions)

Intermittently each of the apple mail clients will juts time out when trying to sync with Yahoo mail (Actually it is Sky UK's email service - but that is just a branded version of the standard YAHOO mail.) I use SMTP for outgoing (which always works) and IMAP for incoming. The IMAP connect will work *sometimes* but other times (random) the mail client will just time out waiting for Yahoo to respond.

I have used this combo for years. This problem has occurred in the last two months.

Perversely, Microsoft Outlook (my least favourite) client works every time on all 3 devices. Ideas, anyone?

Hello enpea,

The steps to resolve this behavior will depend on whether this occurs with multiple accounts (from different email service providers), or if the issue is isolated to your Yahoo account.

If this behavior is isolated to the Yahoo account, and occurs on multiple devices, this would indicate an issue with the account itself. In this case, you'll want to contact your email service provider for additional support. Help for your Yahoo Account

Please use Thunderbird email-client , instead of Outlook or apple-Mail , for now , until apple-Mail is fixed by apple or Outlook is fixed by Microsoft , for newer macOSes.

You will need to use OAuth2 mode of Authentication with yahoo servers, from email-clients.
