AirPod pro 1st generation connection issues

I just recently had some issues with my AirPod pros not connecting to my iPhone. I noticed the issue right after updating to iOS 16.2.

When I opened the case, they would show up. But when placing them in my ears nothing would happen. The iPhone refused to connect. Afterwards I deleted them, paired them again. They worked, till placing back in the case. Then I have to delete AirPods and pair again each time.

concerned of it being an hardware issue, I tried using them with my husbands iPhone. AirPods worked perfectly, ( his iPhone is running iOS 16.1) I made sure that AirPods were on the the laziest firmware as well. 5B58 if I remember correctly. I’m very good keeping my devices on the most current iOS.

just wondering if anyone else is having this issue. The only get response I get from apple is that it’s software issue. Now I have a $100 dollar paper weight.

I'm sorry to hear that you're having connection issues with your AirPods Pro after updating to iOS 16.2. It's possible that the update may have caused a bug that is causing the connection issues you're experiencing. Here are a few things you can try to troubleshoot the problem:

  1. Check for a software update: Make sure that your iPhone is running the latest version of iOS. You can check for updates by going to the Settings app, tapping "General," and then tapping "Software Update." If there is an update available, download and install it and see if that resolves the issue.
  2. Restart your iPhone: Sometimes, simply restarting your iPhone can resolve issues like this. To restart your iPhone, press and hold the power button until you see the "slide to power off" slider. Then, slide the power off slider to the right to turn off your iPhone. Once your iPhone is off, press and hold the power button again to turn it back on.
  3. Reset your AirPods: If the above steps don't help, you may want to try resetting your AirPods. To do this, put your AirPods in their case, close the case, and then hold down the setup button on the back of the case until you see the light flash white. This will reset your AirPods to their factory default state. Then, try pairing them with your iPhone again.
  4. Contact Apple Support: If none of the above steps help, you may want to contact Apple Support for further assistance. They may be able to help troubleshoot the issue and provide additional guidance.

I hope one of these steps helps resolve the issue.

My iPhone 13 Pro is on the most current iOS update. That being iOS 16.2.0. I’ve done factory reset on iPhone and AirPods trying to remove any possible issues. With no avail, my chat with apple support, didn’t come up with any solutions either.

i have these AirPods since they released, with no issues. I thought about buying the new pro 2 gen but they have issues with connectivity as well.

scared that I would have spent the money for another issue. I’m sure with the rest of my husbands phone it’s a software issue not hardware.

They won’t connect to my Mac book air M1. Hard to truly pin point the issue. It could be my phone is the main issue not the AirPods themselves.
