Podcasts app doesn't turn on Automatic downloads for show since upgrade to Ventura

I have two macbook pros, both with Ventura 13.1 (but different models of MBP). Ever since the move Ventura, if a podcasts show that I follow stops the automatic downloads (which happens occasionally because I don't use them continuously), I can't turn it back on.

Meaning I click on the "down arrow" button and click the menu item "Turn on Automatic Downloads" and nothing happens. It does work on my iPhone and iPad.

This happens on multiple shows.
