How to delete user account in Ventura 13.1

I have admin privileges and followed directions to the letter about how to delete an account but I get a popup that states 'Unable to Delete . . . Timed Out'. Nothing I have tried, works. How can I delete a User Account in Ventura 13.1?

Has the User Logged Out of the intended account to be deleted and logged back into the Admin Account ?

The " Owner Account of this computer "  has that privilege to add, remove, upgrade or downgrade accounts. This would include adding more Admin Accounts and / or downgrading an ADDED Admin account

Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

Normally the " Owner Account  " is the very first Account used when the Computer was Very First Setup as New and out of the box.

Adding additional Admin Account can be done there after.

Below link all provide additional insights about Admin Accounts and Owner Accounts

Thank you for your reply and link that helped me better understand my issue with Mac OS Ventura. While very insightful, I do not have the tech skills required to perform what may be a workable fix. I have been using Mac's since 1988 and seen many 'new' OS but Ventura takes the cake. I see absolutely no reason an owner of an Apple computer evidently needs to be a whiz in order to just use the machine. No solution by Apple Support works for me and I suspect others. When an owner has to get to the level apparently required these days just do something that seems simple, this very-long time Apple owner/supporter is ready to jump ship. Now, I will have to take my computer to a computer firm and pay them to do what I should be able to easily do myself. Apple is only about making themselves money. Again, I appreciate and respect your assistance but I just cannot do it. That's on Apple, not you . . . or me.

Welcome and unfortunately the User ( you ) fells this way.

To compare and only for that purpose - been in the Apple Eco-System since about 2004 with the Motorola PPC with OS X 10.4 Tiger.

These were the days.

As Technology has developed and versions of macOS have done the same, we tend to lament the good old days and may forget to evolve with the times.

What I have learned is basically self learned and taught with Zero Background in Computer outside what our Son introduced which were Apple Computers

Guess, am encouraging the User not to lose faith and perhaps attempting the solution or solution provided.

Should one choose that route and additional question arise, by all means ask and will while do our best to assist.

Thank you for a reasoned response and sharing of insight you have gained over time. I value the fact that change is a constant and remain an optimist, but see the elevation of profit over all else as a culprit, regardless of the subject of focus. It is not change that mesmerizes me, it is the speed at which it happens. Evolution takes time and eventually gets it right but the cost in human terms is incalculable as it happens. Fortunately, I can afford a fix but others may not be able to. That's wrong and on Apple, not Mac owners (imo). Thank you again, I appreciate your reply.

I don't know exactly why it is failing for you, but behind the reorganization of System Preferences into the new System Settings, most things still work the same as before.

Yes, they look different, and are grouped differently; but there is still Users & Groups in System Settings, and to delete a user account, one is supposed to click the circled i button and then click "Delete Account...". All in all, not that much different.

I understand that this process is failing.

I suggest you try the same while running your Mac in Safe Mode.

Doing it is not hard. If you have an intel Mac, start it and press and hold the Shift key until the Apple logo appears. If you have an Apple Silicon Mac, press and hold the power button until you get a screen showing you options to start, and choose Safe Mode.

It worked with a shut down and turn back on using Safe Mode. Thank you! Also for your thoughts about values shift (which I agree with): I was caught up in the '60s draft and did a combat tour with the Army in the mud, blood and beer that was Viet Nam. I believe I have a lot invested in the US and realize change is a constant but the direction we may go concerns me. Pendulums swing in both directions, it is a matter of time. I'm just running out and continue to want to do what is right, regardless of compensation. Money is easy, compared to relationships!! It seems it is relationships that suffer when money takes top priority. I'm not condemning, I'm just sayin'
