what do you think about the clay party website? Apparently, when you enter it, it steals your IP address, phone number, home address. They start calling you, texting you threats, sending strange packages and stealing data from your phone. Is it possible on iphone? Who is “they”? What is “they’s” qualifications? An IP address is ephemeral. It is not fixed, and changes regularly; it is controlled by your carrier, not by you. “They” also say that people have been abducted by aliens. And “they” also say that the Earth is flat. So whatever “they” say about IP addresses is as meaningful as a flat earth or alien abduction, or maybe even less so.

That’s hilarious. No. IP addresses are shared contemporaneously and temporally, and most are ephemeral.

Your “they” is not a technical resource, and “they” should consider a comedy career.

It takes effort and thought to be this consistently wrong, too.

Unfortunately, the effects of Brandolini’s Law are a problem for all of us.
