Pairing a iWatch to a new iPhone

I have a new iPhone (14) and when I pair my iWatch it is asking for a password to use messages which is an old apple ID account. I have delated the watch from my Apple ID on my laptop and iPhone and restarted both the laptop and iPhone, but the problem still exists.

Hello there ozbo,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. We suggest unpairing the Apple Watch from the iPhone to erase it completely. Doing so will create a backup on the iPhone, so there's no risk of data loss. Follow the steps here to do so: Unpair and erase your Apple Watch

How to unpair and erase your Apple Watch if you have your iPhone
1. Keep your Apple Watch and iPhone close together as you unpair them.
2. Open the Apple Watch app on your iPhone.
3. Go to the My Watch tab and tap All Watches.
4. Tap the info button  next to the watch that you want to unpair.
5. Tap Unpair Apple Watch.
6. Tap Unpair [your Apple Watch name].
7. For GPS + Cellular models, choose whether to keep or remove your cellular plan.
If you want to pair your Apple Watch and iPhone again, keep your plan.
If you don't want to pair your Apple Watch and iPhone again, remove your plan. If you aren't going to pair with a different watch or iPhone, you might need to contact your carrier to cancel your cellular subscription.
8. Type your Apple ID password to disable Activation Lock, then tap Unpair.

Once you have done so, pair it back to the iPhone and set it up a new rather than from the backup. When promoted to sign in to Messages, do so with the correct Apple ID and password. Eh steps to being the setup can be found here: Set up your Apple Watch

Sign in with your Apple ID
If asked, enter your Apple ID password. If you aren’t asked, you can sign in later from the Apple Watch app: Tap General > Apple ID, then sign in. Certain features that require a cellular phone number won’t work on cellular models of Apple Watch unless you sign in to iCloud.
If Find My isn't set up on your iPhone, you'll be asked to turn on Activation Lock. If an Activation Lock screen appears, your Apple Watch is already linked to an Apple ID. You need to enter the email address and password for that Apple ID to continue set up. If your Apple Watch was previously owned, you might need to contact the previous owner to remove Activation Lock

Let us know the outcome, and we can go from there if needed.

We hope this helps you.
