I read the older threads.
This morning my iPhone delivered the notification “Confirm iPhone Passcode. Confirm your iPhone passcode to keep using iCloud. This passcode also protects access to data stored in iCloud.”
At first I thought this might be a new phishing effort, but it also appears in Settings. My phone is an iPhone 12 on iOS 16.2. I installed 16.2 just a few days ago.
Is the fix still a full reset and reinstall (ugh)?

We'll be glad to go over this with you. You shouldn't need to reset or reinstall anything for this. Generally, you just need to enter the passcode it's requesting in order to verify your account. Keep in mind this may be a passcode from another iPhone on your account as well.
This is normal, and protects sensitive data, like passwords, credit card numbers, and Messages stored in iCloud. Once you approve access, only the device that you sign in on can read your data. Complete details on your iCloud data can be found here:

My work iPhone passcode was 10 digit. There is no way to provide them in my personal phone . It has only six digit to enter.
How to get rid of this message?
I enter the passcode and the message goes away, but then comes back a week later, I go through this process every week. there’s a bug that you should be addressing asap
This just happened for the first time about a week ago. I have not Re entered the passcode. What happens if I don’t? Do I lose access to everything in the cloud? (iPhone 13 pro max iOS 16.3.1).
This has been happening to me for a month or two but has now ramped up to at least once a day. Have not correlated it to anything I’ve done differently but it seems to be asking more frequently. Wonder what would happen if I ignored it?
I’ve been ignoring on iPhone/iPad/Mac for about 4 weeks now - nothing has happened, just annoying see a notification badge on my settings icon all the time. Love to know what’s causing/when they’ll fix it
Is it normal to continually ask for your passcode every few days to once a week? That is the problem. Why isn't the actual question/problem addressed in your response rather than a boilerplate answer?
Again, I enter the passcode. It is requiring, the notification turns off, but reappears a few days later. This is extremely annoying. How many times should a person have to verify their iCloud password?
This is a user to user support forum. We are all users here......just like you. No one here can answer questions about what Apple might or might not do, or when they might do something.

Why all of the sudden do I need to, “Confirm iPhone Passcode,” to use iCloud? I’ve never had to verify my passcode before, unless I purchased a new iPhone. This is a terrible idea to have to verify a passcode so many times. Doing so, that often, just opens the door for someone to peek over your shoulder and then have access to your phone. This is absolutely the stupidest idea I’ve heard of. It makes me want to quit using iCloud with its high monthly charge and then update all my files, and photos, to my giant SSD on my home computer.
It’s no longer happening and hasn’t since 2/14/23. I don’t know what changed to fix it. I’m not sure if it was an iOS update or something else. I just know it stopped as mysteriously as it began.

I have confirm iPad passcode and then I get a verification failed message.
I am having this happen several times a day for the last two months. It will also have me enter my Apple password. Has there been any resolution other than repeatedly entering passcode/word?
