Rename multiple files doubles extension (try #2).
Why did Finder start repeating extensions for most file Renames, after working fine for a bunch?
Happened on a MacBook Pro 2021 with Sox 13.1 Ventura.
1. Select several or many files, including `ExitingName.pdf` .
2. File menu —> Rename.
3. Choose `Add text` with `before name`, and enter `Toms_` .
4. If get prompt that file extension will be changed to `.Toms_`, cannot exit nor undo (Escape fails too). Regardless of choosing `Keep .Pdf` or not.
4b. Dialog box: ``Are you sure you want to change the extension from “.pdf” to “.Toms”? If you make this change, your document may open in a different application. [ Use .Toms ] [ Keep .pdf ] [ ] Apply to All`` .
5. End up with `Toms_.ExistingName.pdf.pdf` and notice extra dot after prefix you entered.
6. Have to manually rename those individually = time consuming.
Any help appreciated.
