iMac power cable odor

Have attempted to purchase 2 new iMacs over the past month. Both had mildew moldy smell in box. Definitely coming from the cloth covered power cable which reeks. Had to return both computers. One was a Christmas present. Even after airing for almost 2 weeks the cable still smelled. This has clearly been a problem for some time. Why hasn’t Apple addressed this.
