I'm a new MAC user. I have just started setting up my MAC Mini. I have attempted to migrate my PC info/files/programs using the Windows Migration Assistant, but cannot.

I have attempted to migrate my PC info/files/programs using the Windows Migration Assistant, but cannot. Both systems are on the same network, and recognize each other during the initial connection using the numerical digit code. But, when I select the "choose the files to transfer", the Apple displays a message "Cannot find DESKTOP-P6QJ2J".

But WAIT, There's MORE!!!

So I decided to go ahead with the manual setup. One of my programs requires me to download an install application. The MAC MINI is now locked up and the keyboard will not work, other than letting me do my initial sign-on.

Mac mini, macOS 13.1

Hi InitialStartUp,

As for the transfer from Windows to Mac, it might work better using a cable to connect both computers.

Apple’s support page on this topic can be found here: Move your data from a Windows PC to a Mac - Apple Support

It also touches on some steps if you are having issues moving your data (at the bottom)

All new Apple devices come with 90 days of free Apple Support help. They can assist you and view your Mac’s screen (with your consent first of course) to beter help you.

As for the locking out and the keyboard not working I would suggest visiting an Apple Store or Apple Authorised Service Provider so they can have a look at the Mac and Keyboard in person.

More details might help me, but fixing this is easier in person.

Hope it helps :)

I have tried several different keyboards with same results. When I restart the computer, it goes through the normal sign on requirements. As soon as I sign into the computer, it pops up the sign-on window for the other install program, but that is when the keyboard stops working and therefore I cannot give the Mini "permission" to continue with the install.
