After I upgraded to iOS 16.x, I have not been able to upgrade my watch series 4 to watch os 9.x
I'm convinced, watch series 4 is not support on watch os 9.x. Looking for guidance to resolve. Tried everything under the sun that even visited the genius bar with no resolve. Thanks in advance.

My boss has a Series 4 and I successfully updated it to WatchOS 9, so I know it can be done. If you can, wipe the watch as though you were going to sell it, then try to set it up and update it fresh?

Otherwise, schedule an appointment at your Apple Store Genius Bar and let them update the watch for you.
I understand that the documentation indicates Series 4 Apple Watch is compatible with WatchOS9. I'm just stating, after trying all the documented troubleshooting and connectivity steps published, I have not been able to get my watch upgraded. I'm absolutely positive I have a Series 4 Watch.
I can pair my watch with my iPhone, but it forces me to upgrade, and gets to the part where it wants to verify the upgrade, then I get a message "unable to verify update"....blah blah blah. If you see 'Unable to Verify Update' when updating Apple Watch - Apple Support
Thanks for confirming the series 4 with watch os 9. I have already restored to factory settings, but still faced with the issue. I have previously scheduled an appointment with the Apple Store Genius Bar; however due to terrible speeds/connectivity via Apple WiFi, they were not able to assist at the store and advised some steps to upgrade while at home, which did not work. I may have no choice but to try again with Genius Bar.
