Hello CB5480,

Have you set up Screen Time on this child's device? If so, check for the following: Use parental controls on your child's iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch

  1. Go to the Settings app
  2. Tap on Screen Time
  3. Tap on Content & Privacy Restrictions
  4. Check under iTunes & App Store Purchases

Under iTunes & App Store Purchases, you'll have the option to Allow or Don't Allow the following:

  • Installing Apps
  • Deleting Apps
  • In-App Purchases

It will also ask if you'd require the password, Always Require or Don't Require; to download apps and content.

Let us know if you're able to solve this by allowing the child the ability to download and purchase apps.

Wishing you well, take care.

Hello CB5480,

For difficulties with downloading apps, the general steps below may help:

1. Manually update the app
Learn how to manually update an app

2. Add a payment method
You might need to have a valid payment method on file, even if the app that you want to download is free.
Add a payment method

3. Resolve a problem with your payment method
If your payment method is expired, declined, or failed, or a message says 'billing problem with previous purchase'

4. Prioritize the download
From the Home Screen, touch and hold the app. From the menu that appears, choose Prioritize Download.

Prioritize Download is at the top of the menu that appears when you touch and hold the app.

5. Restart your device
Restart your iPhone or iPad, then check to see if you can download or update apps.

Should she still be unable to download apps, does she get a particular error message or prompt?

Has this occurred with multiple devices?

Let us know, and we'll keep moving forward based on those details.

Hi there CB5480,

Thanks for letting us know. We know you mentioned that you tried some troubleshooting steps already. We want to make sure that your daughters device is fully up-to-date, as that can help resolve issues. If your daughter has an iPhone or iPad, the steps below show how to do that:

"Update your iPhone or iPad wirelessly

  1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
  2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
  3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
  4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
  5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do."

Those steps, and more information, can be found here: Update your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

If your daughters devices is fully up-to-date and the previous steps didn't help, you can contact Apple Support for further assistance. You can reach out with the following link: Contact - Official Apple Support

Best wishes.

Hi CB5480,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

Can you explain what happens when she tries to download an app? Try connecting to a different Wi-Fi network on download while connected to cellular. If she's using cellular, but unable to download apps, make sure that the App Store button is enabled in Settings > Cellular.

Regards.
