AirPods Pro 2 disconnect when answering a call

When I am listening to music on my AirPods Pro 2 and I receive a call. My AirPods seem to disconnect. The person on the other side cannot hear me but my phone says my AirPods are still connected. The I am switching to speaker on my phone. After this I can hear the other person and they can hear me. Then after a couple of seconds it automatically switches back to the AirPods and they work fine. I have tried everything; reset the AirPods, the latest firmware on AirPods and phone. Can you please help me?

I have been having the same issue. AirPods Pro 2, iPhone Xs. I went to the local Apple Store. They ran diagnostics on the AirPods Pro 2, but all the tests passed. I did find something that may solve the problem. I turned off "announce calls" (Settings -> Siri & Search -> Announce Calls) (set to "never"). Using my home phone, I called my iPhone, while listening to music through the AirPods Pro 2. I clicked the right stem (as I did before), and this time, the call connected the way it should, and I did not experience any issues. I kept the call going for a minute, and made sure I could hear myself on the home phone. I then double-clicked the right stem, and the call ended, as it should.

I think what was happening is that sometimes Siri would announce the call, and sometimes it would not. I'm not sure, but it seems like the "announce calls" expects you to ONLY answer by responding "yes", and if you click the stem instead, the iPhone/AirPods Pro 2 gets confused and results in audio issues as many here have described. This should not be the case, and I consider this a bug, but I will try this and see how it works.

I'm disappointed that the person at the Apple Store did not ask about these settings, or how I was answering calls. Especially after I showed a list of issues I was having.

Hello,

I have exactly the same problem with AirPods Pro 2 connected to my iPhone Xs. When I receive a call during listening music, I hear the person on my right AirPod, 2 seconds and then AirPods disconnect. Then I have to wait 15 seconds they reconnect.

i have change my AirPods but not the case. I going to go to Apple Store to change case, or ask what to do.

I am having the same Issue with iPhone XS and Airpods Pro 2, a friend of mine too (also with XS and Airpods Pro 2).

When you google this issue, you find hundreds of threads about exactly this problem since the Airpods Pro 2 were released. More than 230 people clicked on 'me too' on this thread.

How can Apple be so ignorant not to fix this?

I will send the Airpods back and order the Bose Quiet Comfort Earbuds II.
