Logitech MX Master 3S Bluetooth Issue / Lagging / Delay

I am referring to this closed thread: Logitech MX Master 3 / keys lagging. - Apple Community

Basically I am trying to understand the exact problem. After having googled and researched a lot, reddit as well, I found that when I disconnect my Sony WH-1000XM4 the mouse works supersmooth. But when it's connected it doesn't.

And at this point I don't think it is interferences as mentioned in some results I found. I feel like the bluetooth capacity is overloaded with this:

  • 1 Keychron Keyboard Bluetooth
  • 1 Logitech MX Master 3S
  • 1 Sony WH-1000XM4

It kinda would make sense to me that the Headphones would take the most bluetooth "bandwidth" but I am asking here if that makes sense. What Limit is there on bluetooth bandwidth and does it make sense that even though those are just 3 devices they can clog each other - or that the Headphones clog the mouses data?

I have a Mac Pro 2019 with Mac OS Ventura 13.2.1 (22D68). I have had issues with adding a 3rd bluetooth connected device. I have the keyboard and magic pad connected via bluetooth. When I add any other bluetooth device to my Mac the mouse cursor lags bad. Typing also seems to lag a little, but that isn't as noticeable as the mouse cursor jumpy movements. I have connected the keyboard with a lighting cable and gone into the bluetooth settings to forget the keyboard connection (wired mode now). Now, when I connect my headset or airpod pros to my Mac Pro, I don't get anymore lag. $6,000 Mac Pro bluetooth limit is 2 bluetooth devices. I haven't attempted a 3rd party bluetooth adapter yet, but I guess I will if I ever need another BT device.

LAG SOLVED

I've had really bad lag/delay using my MX Master 3S for Mac on my iMac Pro running Ventura 13.1. One post said it was when they opened System Preferences, then their mouse would lag. For me, it would lag/jump any time my iMac was "thinking". Any window opened, closed, file saved, closed, application opened, closed, etc. I read this post where people solved it by reducing the number of Bluetooth devices, suspecting an issue with Bluetooth bandwidth.

In my case it was much more specific.

There were 4 BT devices in my BT preferences: 1) Magic Keyboard w/ Numeric Keypad, 2) Magic Trackpad 2, 3) MX Master 3S M (my current mouse), and 4) MX Master 3S, a previous mouse that I replaced but never removed from BT. Only one device was connected, my current 3S M.

I removed the previous 3S mouse from my BT list, and even though it was not connected (and is not even present in this building), THAT ELIMINATED THE LAG COMPLETELY.

Somehow, the other mouse still being on my BT list caused a communication issue with the mouse I've been using. I can't say if that sounds more like an Apple or Logitech issue, but it's certainly a stupid issue. But it has solved my lag issue. No reboot. No sudo terminal commands. No other change needed. Instantly gone, smooth mouse movements. I tested it by opening and closing System Preferences, various Office 365 apps, browsers, etc. The lag is gone.

Here's hoping it doesn't return.

Had same issue with Logitech MX 3s on bluetooth connection.

I used these devices over bluetooth:

  • Logitech MX master 3s
  • AirPods Pro 2
  • Bose QC 45
  • Nuphy Air75 Keyboard

Steps I tried:

  • Tried to reinstall LogiOptions+ - no luck
  • Removed all permissions, still lag
  • Restarted bluetooth daemon, still lag

Finally I removed all bluetooth devices that were listen in bluetooth settings but not connected: Lag has gone!

Strange but it worked 🤷‍♂️

Noticed today after logging onto my computer to do some work, the mouse was on first, and then about an hour later I put on my AirPods Max and the mouse immediately started hitching after the headphones connected and started playing music from Spotify on my M1 Pro laptop. Seems to be something with BT sharing that bandwidth. I ran the kill command and I am back to a responsive mouse. It appears to only happen after I put the computer to sleep (close the lid) for an extended period and then come back. Could also occur when the mouse disconnects but rarely does that happen outside of when I finish for the day.

Otherwise, the sudo kill bluetoothd command will be written into a script that I run when I wake the computer so that I don't have to manually run it.

I hope we see a resolution soon as it is frustrating but ultimately, I'm glad there is a workaround for the time being.

Hi, so I'm also currently using Logitech MX Master 3s for Mac with Soundcore Q30 as my headphone and my Apple device is Apple Macbook Pro M1 Pro.

Here are some tips that I tried and help me quite a lot and I'm going to sort these solutions based on the most convenient to the less convenient:

1. Turning off Pro Motion

Even when only my logitech mouse is connecting to the bluetooth, the cursor is still jumpy. So I tried to turn off pro motion and the jumpiness has decreased by a lot.

2. Turning off bluetooth and on

While I hate this technique, but sometimes I used this when I feel like the lagging is caused due to multiple devices connecting and the bandwidth is interfering with one another.

Here's an example: sometimes I carry my headphone too far and it causes the sound of the headphone to be laggy. When I return, the bluetooth headphone returns to normal but the mouse becomes laggy. If this happens then I'll turn off and on my bluetooth connection

3. Unpair then Pair your mouse

Like.. it's just last resort

Hope it helps!

So if writing terminal commands isn't your thing & you're tired of rebooting your mouse, try this.

After having read 3 other similar threads in Reddit & going over all comments & solutions, what worked best for me has been the procedure in the article: https://www.howtoisolve.com/logitech-options-not-working-on-mac/

I have been having the issue on my intel macbook pro & now on my m1 max (both on Ventura) as well despite having followed the Logitech representative's recommendations in the below comments (which were outright irrelevant).

Bottom line:

  1. update the logi+ app
  2. make sure all logi permissions are ok (input monitoring, accessibility & login items)
  3. reboot your computer

This worked for me despite having Airpods Pro & a Keychron K3 connected over bluetooth. The jitter lag has not resumed either, so keeping my fingers crossed!

Had the same issue, solved from a redditor's post which says to basically create a file named com.apple.airport.bt.plist in the /Library/Preferences path using the command below:

sudo defaults write /Library/Preferences/com.apple.airport.bt.plist bluetoothCoexMgmt Hybrid

SOLVED

I also had the same issue with MX Master 3S on M1 MacBook Air (Sonoma 14.1.1).

No other bluetooth devices were actively connected, not just to this computer, even in THE ENTIRE HOUSE.

Tried the following:

  • forgot every other bluetooth devices (AirPods, Magic Mouse, Magic Keyboard, JBL Go3)
  • executed:
sudo pkill bluetoothd
  • restarted the OS
  • reconnected the mouse

After these steps the issue is gone and hopefully won't return.
