iOS asks permission to access my gmail

Is it mandatory to agree to iOS access to my gmail?

Is it save to agree?

iPhone SE, iOS 13

I changed my gmail password and now it does not function.

Is that because I did not agree to iOS accessing my emal?

I am not clear about what permission you are referring to.

I have two of my Gmail account with the iOS mail app and it never asked for any additional permission except the email password and authentication because I have enabled 2 Step verification on Gmail

Here's how:

Go to Settings > Mail, then tap Accounts.
Tap Add Account, then select your email provider.
Enter your email address and password.
If you see Next, tap Next and wait for Mail to verify your account.
If you see Save, tap Save.
