cannot browse photo albums when uploading an image on MacBook Pro w/Ventura 13.1

I just noticed I cannot browse my Photo albums on my MacBook Pro or iMac, both are running 13.1 Ventura.

When I search under Media>Photos in Finder to attach an image, only the Photos folder shows up, I can't browse My Albums like I could before. I have no problem on my older mac running Monterey. Which leads me to believe it's (another) Ventura issue.

i've tried changing the finder view but still I cannot access any other folder other than the main Photo album which does me no good.

has anyone else noticed this?

Do you mean the File Upload routine that's used in browsers like Safari to find pictures for uploading to websites? If that's what you mean, then you may be running into a glitch in the way Photos is handled in File Upload in Ventura. It used to show all your albums, but in Ventura it shows only the full Library.

So you have to work around it for now. The search box is available, so you can try searching for your picture with its file name, a keyword you've assigned, a person, or a title. It helps to add keywords or titles to pictures as you go so you can find them later.

You can, before the upload, select your pictures in Photos, and then add a keyword, maybe Facebook011023 or something, to the info window (command-I) all at once. Then the search should give you all the pictures.

Another option is to export the pictures you're going to use to a folder, perhaps on you desktop. Then you can upload from there.

I’m confused. This is a clear issue that hinders the workflow of everyone affected yet as of 20/6/2024 it has not been resolved. I thought issues like this would be tackled fast but it seems I was mistaken.

This hinders my mother's workflow greatly and I’d like to know when this will be resolved. A software update is supposed to add to the user’s experience, not take away from it.

Have a nice day!

Melineed - You are soooo right. There are no fixes, suggestions or anything to help with the problems. In fact, I have concluded that the MacBook Pro is very pretty, but not at all intuitive like a good old PC. (Much like my past girlfriends :-). The only reason I continue to use a Mac is because of my watch and iPad. Otherwise, I'd be off (Mac) like a prom dress.

Exact same boat; I work in residential construction on the materials/supply side and I am absolutely flabbergasted that so few people are on this thread saying, "Me too." How can this not be a bigger problem for people (unless it's just an error and something's wrong with the individual instance of Instagram I'm running on my machine/OS)? I mean, I take what I consider to be a lot of photos (>10 week) which I'd have to imagine probably seems like very few to many people. I have a few friends that probably take in excess of 25 insta selfies per day LOL. Wouldn't they be freaking out way sooner than I would be on this? It's like hunting for a needle in a haystack if you want to go back and find a photo you took months ago to upload to a website. It's so painful most times that I just get discouraged entirely and give up, never uploading the photo and, by extension, never finishing the task at hand :(

I've been struggling with this for a LONG time and just kinda made-do as I figured it was some setting I had to figure out. Finally it became a big enough problem that I decided to spend time researching it to figure it out. Now I see it's been going on for years! ARG. I would guess many people are in the same boat... especially if it's not job related... they just kind of deal with it (b/c figuring it out can take up so much time).
