Notification volume on AirPods is extremely loud

I have tried searching for the answer to this question to no avail. When I am wearing my AirPod pros, any text message, I get, the notification sound is extremely loud, and for the life of me I cannot figure out how to turn it down. The volume control on my phone only turns down other sounds such as music I’m listening to, or the phone call volume. Even if the volume is all the way down, and I get a text, my ears get blasted with a super loud notification. There has to be a way to adjust the volume of the notifications. This is a setting that should definitely be there and should not have been overlooked by Apple. From what I can read on this form, it looks like Apple did overlook this, but I’m just going to ask it one more time.

thanks for the response,

That seems to only work for the AirPods notifications, such as transparency, noise cancelling etc. The notifications from texts and voicemail and things like that are still exceptionally loud. I just don’t understand how Apple doesn’t give you the option to turn those down.

Hello Laylow73,

Try these steps to adjust the volume of your AirPods Pro's notifications:

Adjust the volume of sound effects for AirPods - Apple Support

  • Connect your AirPods to your iPhone
  • Go to Settings and select them under your Apple ID
  • Scroll down to "Accessibility" and select it
  • At the bottom of this page you will find "Tone Volume"
  • Adjust the tone volume according to your desired noise level

This is a weird place to put the tone volume controls, but it seems Apple decided that "Accessibility" lines up with alert volumes.

Let me know if this helps. Have a nice day.

Hello Laylow73,

Why don't you try one more thing:

Turn down the alert volume on your iPhone (this should affect the notification volume on your AirPods):

Change iPhone sounds and vibrations - Apple Support

One way to counter this problem might be to adjust the settings in Headphone Safety underneath "Reduce Loud Sounds". You can set a decibel limit for your AirPods.

Use headphone audio level features on iPhone - Apple Support

If none of this is working, you can provide Product Feedback on your AirPods by selecting "Feature Request" in the "Feedback Type" field and noting that you want to be able to reduce the alert volume that plays on your AirPods.

Product Feedback - Apple

I hope this helps. Have a nice day.
