iphone Xs has no sound on calls.

My iphone XS has no sound in either direction when calling over 4G. (Wi-Fi calling works fine.) The called phone rings but I get no ringing tone. When answered there is no voice heard in either direction. My SIM works in another phone and another SIM does not work in my phone. I have tried resetting Network settings but that hasn't helped. iOs is 16.2.

Recently bought it as refurbished but want to be sure it is a hardware fault and not settings or software before returning it.

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Rich ~ Was it a refurbished device from Apple? (The battery should be new.)

And what's the Maximum Capacity % here?...

Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging

Also, you can check if the battery or display has been replaced. Go to Settings > General > About

...Does it say anything about the battery?

There are already doubts about that battery since it's at 83% so soon. So the refurbishment may have been lacking in quality in other areas also – which may be causing the problem. ...Did you get the iPhone from a reputable source?
