Mobile Banking App check deposit picture issue

I have a Bank of America mobile App. I tried to deposit a check via my iPhone and when attempting to take the picture of check the screen shot is orientation is portrait instead of landscape. Plus, it won’t automatically take the photo and eventually sends me a message that I need to take the photo manually. This has never happened in many years of use.

The App is updated. I have the current software update iOS 16.2. I’ve rebooted. I called the bank customer service and was offered only apologies and no solutions. anybody experience this?

Thanks for choosing the Apple Support Communities. Though this does sound like an issue with the Bank of America app itself, there are steps you can take on your iPhone to ensure you can take a picture of your check properly.


  1. Make sure orientation lock is off in Control Center. - Rotate the screen on your iPhone or iPod touch - Apple Support
  2. Follow these steps to troubleshoot the app itself. - If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open - Apple Support

Particularly, you will want to delete and reinstall the app then log back in and try again. Beyond this, we suggest reporting the issue to the app developer.
