Thank you.
This printer is not shown in the latest (en-us, December 13, 2022) About AirPrint - Apple Support, but the HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M281fdw was listed in the July 01, 2022 issue of this article, and it is an AirPrint model according to the HP specifications (https://www.hp.com/us-en/shop/pdp/hp-color-laserjet-pro-mfp-m281fdw).
Is the printer connected via Ethernet or Wi-Fi to a router? Are you using AirPrint, or possibly drivers from HP?
An AirPrint-enabled printer is compatible with macOS, and can be used without additional drivers, provided that the printer and the Mac are connected to the same network (Wi-Fi router). AirPrint works with wireless (Wi-Fi) or wired (Ethernet) network connections. A wired Ethernet printer connection may be more stable.
If a network connection via a router, to begin with I would suggest the following power-cycle sequence (with these waiting times): Power off the (Wi-Fi) router, the printer, the Mac, and all other connected devices/computers. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the router. Wait two to three minutes. Power on the printer. Wait a minute or two. Power on the Mac. Finally, power on all other devices/computers.
Also, you may want to try resetting the printing system and re-adding the printer (to use AirPrint).
