iOS: Edited photos show original photo after import or in other apps

This just started about a month ago. Anytime I crop a photo or edit a photo and try to upload it to social media ie: Instagram or try to create a video using VivaVideo app it always reverts back to the original photo or video. How can I fix this issue.

Hello OgJKJeepGirl,

Thank you for providing those additional details. Since this happens when attempting to publish these photos in third-party apps, app specific troubleshooting may help with reaching a resolution. If you haven't already, complete the steps listed below as they're specific to resolving app specific issues. You can also find these steps outlined in more detail via the following link. While the title of the article references a different issue, these steps are still relevant.

  1. "Force the app to close."
  2. "Restart your iPhone."
  3. "To see if updates are available for the app, open the App Store, tap your profile icon, then scroll down to see if updates are available. If updates aren't available for the app, update the software on your iPhone or iPad."
  4. "Delete the app. When you do this, you might lose data that was stored in the app. Then redownload the app. Then check to see if the problem with the app is fixed."

If an app on your iPhone or iPad stops responding, closes unexpectedly, or won’t open

Let us know how that goes!

Hi OgJKJeepGirl,

Welcome to Apple Support Communities. So we can clarify, are you editing and sharing these photos from the Photos app? If not, first get the steps to edit in the Photos app here: Take and edit photos on your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Edit your photo or video
After you take your photo or video, open it in the Photos app and tap Edit. Then you can adjust the crop, angle, light, add a filter, and more. Choose an adjustment, like Brightness or Saturation, and slide to change the strength and intensity. If you don’t like how your changes look, tap Cancel and revert back to the original.

Next, use the guidance from the Apple Support article to share photos from the Photos app: Share photos and videos on iPhone - Apple Support

Share photos and videos
Share a single photo or video: Open the photo or video, tap the Share button, then choose a share option.
Share multiple photos or videos: When viewing a screen with multiple thumbnails, tap Select, then tap the thumbnail of the photos and videos you want to share. Tap the Share button, then choose a share option.
Share photos or videos from a day or month: Tap Library, tap Days or Months, tap the More Options button, then tap Share Photos and choose a share option.

Let us know if this helps, or if you're having a different issue.

Best regards!
