Phone overheated during Facetime

My daughter had her iphone XR on the charger while using Facetime, and fell asleep with Facetime call open. Woke up to a very HOT phone, and a black screen, and it will not turn on. The battery was already poor (needed replacing), but do you think that will fix problem or has she fried the insides/processor? Any help is much appreciated!

Hi Winter138,

We'll be glad to help out. If the device will not charge or power on, it'll likely need service. We'd recommend trying the steps in If your iPhone won't turn on or is frozen - Apple Support if you haven't already.

"On your iPhone 8 or later, including iPhone SE (2nd and 3rd generation)

  1. Press and quickly release the volume up button.
  2. Press and quickly release the volume down button.
  3. Press and hold the side button until you see the Apple logo.
  4. If your phone doesn't turn on, follow these steps to check your hardware and charge your phone. You might need to charge for up to an hour.
  5. If your phone still doesn't turn on, contact Apple Support.

"

We hope this helps you out.

Cheers.
