facebook jumps around
Is anyone having issues with Facebook scrolling and jumping through posts when you don't even have your hand on the mouse?

Yes. Facebook has become unusable for me on the Mac. If you're in the general timeline feed (House icon towards the top left), FB spews out ad after ad without you doing anything.
I timed it twice, and both times FB barfed up ads for 30 seconds straight before it finally stopped. By then, an article I actually wanted to read had been pushed up and off the top of the list. I couldn't even get back to it.
I did check my settings and had every possible ad control set to never show ads (as much as you can turn off). Made no difference.
This doesn't happen if I'm on my iPad using Facebook's dedicated app.
Edit: Per some of other comments here, it seems to be directly related to the current version of Safari and Ventura. If I use Firefox (same OS), no problem.
Don't believe it is FB since when I use on Windows or Chrome on my Mac it works fine...has to do with the latest update. Apple needs to get on the ball and fix it.
It is happening to me also with Safari on two different MacBook Pros. One is running Monterey and the other Big Sur. It started this morning and I have not done any updates in several days.
happens in Monterey too. Just after update /Safari
I just tried changing zoom just now and it allowed me to scroll down normally for 3 posts, then started jumping again.
Having issues with Facebook continually scrolling and jumping through posts in both chrome and safari on my iPad Pro. Started Saturday morning. Very annoying.

Which would tend to indicate that the problem is on FB’s side.
This isn’t just a Ventura issue or an update issue. I have it happening on two Macs, one running Big Sur and the other Monterey. I have not updated either recently.
I tried Firefox and although the issue is less pronounced, it still isn't smooth
sailing.
Hmmm....this just started happening today, updated Ventura yesterday, so thought that was the issue. Let me ask you this. Do you add photos in FB? If so, with Monterey does it allow you to go to your photo albums? Since I upgraded to Ventura, when I add a photo it opens up with latest picture only. Cannot get to albums, so if I want to post something from earlier in the year have to find the file number and put in search. Such a pain, it is driving me crazy.
UGH! I am really starting to get upset with Apple....Then you can't minimize Chrome, so every time I want to go to e-mail or something else on Safari, have to close out Chrome. Are you finding this, or are you using Chrome for everything now?
Yes, it started for me today, 14th January 2023. I've had this new Mac since the 11th and it wasn't a problem until today. I've cleared all the Facebook cache and it's still doing it, so I'm thinking it's got to be something on Facebook's end.
I'm so glad it's not just us! I just spent an hour doing malware scans, searching the web for what else to do, changed search engines, and I updated to the latest apple software! Still jumping around but at least I know it's not just us. Sigh.
Thanks for mentioning this...haven't tried FB yet this morning on Safari...if it is still doing the jumping will do a Chrome shortcut....I normally stay logged into FB all day so hopefully it won't be an issue.
Hmm. I find it odd that so many here – considering FB's recent outrage over Apple's app privacy permissions and FB's significant revenue loss – are blaming Apple for Safari's mysterious new hiccup with FB data. Anything pushing frustrated Safari users to Chrome is a win for Google and FB and a loss for privacy and Apple. There was no Safari update this week coinciding with its FB load-scrolling troubles.
I have noticed more errors in Safari, other than Facebook jumps through posts after scrolling the newsfeed, and was wondering if some of you have the same problem ?
By the way, I am also wondering how to report this to Apple / Safari support.
