“Unknown error” while importing backup on WhatsApp.

Did you get any help on this? I also have the same issue, stuck at 40%...... reset a few times and spent hours trying to transfer WhatsApp chat history from android to iPhone and failed repeatedly. Raised with Apple support and awaiting feedback

What do you mean by "after some restarts"

Are you talking about the same error that we faced during whatsapp chat imports? How did you workaround with that error? What next steps did you follow to fully transfer your chats? Any help around this issue is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

currently i am facing the same issue.. moving messages stuck at exactly 40%. Anyone got the solution?? I have tried waiting for 2-3 days .. many restarts could not solve this problem. I dont want to loose the whatsapp data

I ran into the same issue with my 14 Pro.

I’m going to try with a different version of the Move to iOS app and will let you know the results - apks available on the Apple website if you want to try

Thanks for the updates but how can you do the transfer twice? Did you factory reset new and delete data on the new iPhone after, after the first transfer?

Did you restart your iPhone without exiting from whatsapp

Hi, did you leave the small window open? Or did you have to constantly click on the retry button for this to work? Did it work by just leaving it on the screen shown in the original picture? I'm having the same issue, thanks!

New iphone user here. Just got a 15 pro max and was consistently getting this error for 2-3 times after factory resetting the phone several times . It was so important to transfer years of my android whatsapp chat history and not being able to do this made me think of returning iphone and continue using android. After I did a restart as mentioned, the issue was fixed and all my chat history was transferred. Thankyou so much for sharing this quick fix.

Kindly let meknow what to do my move to ios app stopped at 40% too then i couldnt restore whats app chat data from android as it didnt transfer even after showing finished on move to ios app. it asked for new backup of 0kb so i chose one of my gmail acct. after that it showed 0kb data. i have lost data as i tried back to restart app on android to save data but it deleted older chats after i tried logging in it took ios data as last data. its been 10 hrs pls let me know if i can retrieve old chat data and media anyhow. now its showing backup of few hrs 0kb of ios app on android. if i see on ios its showing 0kb data too. its nowwhere.

Actually, I tried the process ( backup from Android using "Move to iOS", resetting iPhone, transfer the backup to iphone and then whatsapp restore on iPhone ) a number of times. It now asks me to wait for 12 hours for the verification code...another issue !!!

My brother faced the same issue but unfortunately he skipped the process and lost all his old chats.

This looks like a common issue with iPhone14 and 15

@Hari323 you are the best. This issue has driven me crazy for 2 days. I have just bought the phone and couldn't use it, it is really frustrating. And on the web, there is no solution anywhere. you really should spread this solution to the world! instead watching lots of meaningless videos, this is the short and simple solution. thank you very much. I am facing the exact same issue on my new iPhone 15. Tried every fix listed here including disabling iCloud sync, disabling background app refresh for WhatsApp, force restarted around 20 times till now but to no avail. The error persists and at the 40% mark unknown error comes up. Really very frustrating process and totally broken migration system.
