not getting texts for 2 factor authentication, I did before, but suddenly I don't

I get my regular texts. But suddenly the texts for 2 factor authentication from banks, etc are just not coming through on my phone or IPad . Although Apple' s do.

I tried the suggestion of making sure my devices are listed in my Apple account and they are. So that was no help.

This is so frustrating- I've turned the phone on and off, taken off all of my blocked numbers except for 1 that I am sure is not a bank or anyone that would send me the 2 factor texts.

Any ideas???

Both my IPad and Iphone are unable to receive these 2 factor texts.

iPhone SE, iOS 16

Hi Foogin,

Re: Any ideas???

Maybe updating both devices to the newest iOS & iPadOS versions may help.

Else:

Wondering if the banks etc. are sending texts from Android phones,

and perhaps you do not have a cellular plan that includes data,

or

maybe do not have cellular data turned on for messages.

Apple Support have an article online with more info. on the green and blue messages:

What is the difference between iMessage and SMS/MMS? – Apple Support

Seems if wi-fi (blue wi-fi messages) is not available for any reason,

messages are sent over cellular (green text messages).

Cellular data is necessary for sending / receiving messages with Android phones.

Seems your iPad and iPhone may be set-up to send iMessages over wi-fi only,

and not set-up for sending texts using a cellular data plan.
