TV/Control Center button no longer switches to appletv on Sony Bravia

I used to just press the "TV/Control center" button on the Siri Remote while watching tv. that action switched inputs so I could then watch content on my AppleTV 4k. This has worked for years.

NOW - when I press that button, absolutely nothing happens. I can use the Siri Remote perfectly if I change inputs on my tv remote. I have a Sony Bravia and Bravia Sync is not finding ANY devices connected to it when I press "enable" on the BraviaSync menu on the tv.

While not a huge issue this is SUPER annoying as all I used to do is press one button to watch streaming services. Now it all of a sudden requires 2 remotes to get going. Help?

Update: have tried disconnecting and reconnecting all HDMI cables. And did a power cycle on the Sony Bravia tv. Bravia Sync is enabled and now "sees" the AppleTV box.. BUT the TV/Control center button on the Apple Remote still does nothing if I press it while watching cable television. Previously (and for years) pressing that button, switched inputs and displayed the AppleTV Home Screen for viewing content.

AllI can think at this point is a recent TV software update "broke" this functionality. Sony never did like to play well with others.
