Uncooperative DVD drive on MacBook Pro

My ancient MacBook Pro won’t allow me to insert a DVD. I have followed various suggestions for force, injecting, and my laptop makes all the requisite noises, but nothing comes out. I can’t get my DVD in more than a half an inch without resistance. Any clues?

DVD won't insert into Big Sur Hi. I own a Macbook MacOS Big Sur 11.7.2. I'm having issues where the DVD won't fit into the dvd player. It doesn't suck in when I put it in however I can still take out. Does anyone know why this is happening? Yes, I've made sure the DVD had no scratches and it wasn't dirty and I put it into another computer to check it was fine. Any ideas?

iMac drive won't recognize blank dvd .. ejects it automatically after spinning for some time Running macOS High Sierra ; mid 2011 desktop. Mac will read most DVD with content. Unreliable reading of CD with content that work fine on a neighbour's desktop. Except for this CD/DVD drive, this has been a really reliable computer. I've not upgraded further as I have programs that I purchased that won't run on a higher system, and these programs have now gone to subscription which is not economically feasible for me. I'm not particularly techie. I did run disk utility and everything was fine. Suggestions please?

DVDs autoeject without running For the first time in several months I inserted a DVD on my iMac. It would try to start a few times, I heard it spin a few times. Then the disc ejects without starting. I tried this with two discs. The drive doesn't show up in Finder.
