finder opens after download

If I download any file with a browser (safari, brave, etc.), a few seconds after the download a finder window will open automatically. I can then cancel or choose. I dont want this window to open. I just want to download a file and be done with it.

Important: its not opening a file, but just the finder window.

When using the Default Browser >> Safari 16.2 on Ventura 13.1 it does not occur on 2 machines I own.

It may occur in the same setup, if Safari is configured Safari >> Setting >> General >> " Open "safe " after downloading "

Aside - is user profile accurate " MacBook Pro 16″, macOS 13.0 " ?

If so, the current version as of Dec 13, 2022 is version 13.1

Hi P. Phillips

thanks for the swift reply.

I updated to Ventura version 13.1. The problem still occurs.

Also it has, probably, nothing to do with "open "safe" files after downloading", because it was turned off.

Besides that it's not that I want to open downloaded files automatically or not.

What I want is, that after the a download the finder doest automatically opens this window:

I wonder what I am supposed to "chose" or cancel. Because the moment this window opens, the download was already completed.
