Whether or not the cost of a battery replacement is cost effective will be principally determined by the age of the iPad - and potentially your available budget.

If your iPad is more four-to-five years old (or older), you might be well advised to consider replacement of the iPad with a newer model in preference to spending money on a battery replacement. Older model iPads will be approaching the end of their support lifespan - after which, even if still working - update of system software and Apps will become increasing limited - and with it the utility and usefulness of the iPad will diminish.

I’ve just had my iPad 9.7 pro battery replaced & it cost £65. I would expect your cost would be similar.
