When I swipe down from the top, right, it shows that my ‘do not disturb’ is on. When I go to settings, focus, it also shows that the ‘do not disturb’ is on. When I select the do not disturb line, it goes to a screen which offers me choices about setting a schedule, but there is no toggle switch to turn ‘do not disturb’ off.

Not true. It used to be under focus. Now, it is gone. You have to create a focus program in order to configure times when the ‘do not disturb’ is on or off and then choose a whole bunch of different features that attached to that particular program you have created. It’s absurd. I have had to create a focus program that starts at 12:01 AM and goes until 11:59 PM every night as well as choose exactly which apps and people I want included or not included- all opposed to just turning it on or off.
The switch was moved to the Control Center. It’s labeled “Focus”. It will turn DND on and off manually. It does not require using scheduled DND.
Still no simple “off” button.

YES! You Found it! That oval button with the smiley face on it!!!!!!! That turns DND on or off!!!!!
Correct. I should have been clearer about tapping the round button.

Note that you must tap the "moon" icon to toggle Do Not Disturb. If you tap the text to the right of the icon, you will open the settings instead of toggling.
As many have stated and confirm, there is no toggle switch for this on my phone
The Do not disturb toggle switch has disappeared.
