How to upload HEIC photos from PC to iCloud Photos?

Currently, I am using iCloud for Windows (version 14.1). Following this doc (Set up and use iCloud Photos on your Windows PC - Apple Support), I am able to upload JPEG and RAF (Fuji Raw Format) to iCloud Photos by moving those files into the iCloud Photos folder created in the Windows File Explorer. However, when I move a HEIC file into the folder, there is no cloud status icon showing up for that file. How can I upload HEIC photos to iCloud Photos?

Windows, Windows 10

Hello HankerZZZ,

Thanks for posting in the Apple Support Communities.

We understand you're looking for help with uploading photos to iCloud on your PC, right?

If we have this correct, check out the steps below to see if this helps with what you're looking to do. You can also find additional information that may be helpful in the following resource: If your iCloud Photos aren't loading on your PC - Apple Support

How do I copy photos to an iCloud folder?

1. Open a File Explorer window.

2. In the Navigation pane (sidebar), click on iCloud Photos. If you're using an earlier version of iCloud for Windows, go to Favorites > iCloud Photos.

3. In another window, open the folder where you currently store the photos that you want to add to iCloud Photos.

4. Select the photos that you want to add.

5. Drag them into the iCloud Photos folder. In earlier versions of iCloud for Windows, drag them into Favorites > iCloud Photos > Uploads.

If that isn't helpful, confirm that you have enough available storage in iCloud for the photo you're attempting to upload to see if that may be related to what's happening. For assistance with checking iCloud storage, take a look at this resource: Check your iCloud storage on any device - Apple Support

Should you need additional help, contact Apple Support directly to check into this with you in more detail.

Have a great day!
