I'm about to switch to a new phone, so first I'm trying to back up the one I currently have. My phone has a problem where it freezes and restarts frequently (about once every half hourish) which means that every time I try to back it up, it restarts before it can finish and then the backup doesn't work. Is there a way to back up my phone even though it restarts? Or a way to stop the restarts?

We assume you're upgrading to a new iPhone because this older iPhone is restarting unexpectedly. In this case, there isn't much you can do. You would need to troubleshoot the older iPhone and determine the root cause to why it continues to restart.
