Mail screen won't close

I am setting up my new MacBook and for one of my mail accounts, I was unable to remember the password and decided I really no longer need that mail account on my computer, so I deleted the account, but the verification screen for the email just dulled and I cannot close it. It will not release my mail app in order to shut down my computer. What do I do to get rid of this verification screen?

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 13.0

From the Apple menu in the upper left

>Force Quit>Mail.app

Relaunch the Mail.app holding the Shift key down if that is your objective...

or shut down /reboot as normal and carry on.
