How to delete multiple messages within a contact conversation using Monterey 12.6.2?

The shift key highlights the imessages within a conversation but only deletes one message at a time. So multiple selections are possible with both the Shift key and the Command key but only one message deletes when right-clicking to delete. Please provide a different alternative or Apple please fix this glitch!!!! It is the most frustrating feature I have had with Apple yet and I am a fan but not for this. I do not want to delete a person or a thread of contacts pinned because there are some photos or message I prefer to keep. HELP!!!!

iMac 27″, macOS 12.6

Hello debdoe53,

Thank you for reaching out to Apple Support Communities.

We were able to find this:

"Delete a message

  1. In the Messages app  on your Mac, select a conversation.
  2. Select one or more messages (including text messages, photos, videos, files, web links, audio messages, or emoji) in the transcript, press Delete, then click Delete in the dialog.

Note: When you delete a message, it’s moved to the Recently Deleted folder on your device, but not anyone else’s. When you want to delete a message for everyone, use Undo Send."

As outlined here: Delete messages and conversations in Messages on Mac

If you are still having issues, it may be best to reach out to Apple directly.

You can do so by going to Get Support.

They will take a closer look and check on available options.

Cheers!
