How to Change Channels Using the DirecTV App?

On a Fire Stick, while watching a TV show using the DirecTV app, if you click the right arrow on the remote, it takes you to the next channel. If you click the left arrow, it takes you to the previous channel.

On both of my AppleTV's, if you click the right arrow or swipe right, it tries to fast forward. If you click the left arrow or swipe left, it tries to rewind.

The only way I have found to change channels is to bring up the guide.

That's way too many clicks, and it's hard to see the guide unless I get up and move closer to the TV, and I have an 83" LG C1.

Occassionally, if I swipe right or left on the AppleTV remote, it will change the channel. However, it almost never works. It almost always wants to fast forward or rewind.

I tried disabling touch in the remote control settings. After I did that and clicked the left or right arrow, nothing happened on the screen. The light blinked on the unit, but nothing happened at all on the screen.

Is there a problem with the app? Are my AppleTV's jacked up. One of them is a 4K Gen 3 128 GB model connected with Gigabit ethernet. The other one is a 4K Gen 2 64 GB model connected with Wifi 6.
