Poor quality photos on iPhone 14 pro max

My bf has an iPhone 13 Pro Max & the photos are better than mine! It’s really frustrating considering how expensive the phone is & how it was raved on that it was better camera quality whens it’s worse than my old iPhone 11. Really is a shame all my photos are washed out & some blurry or grainy. I’ve tried everything in the settings & I don’t know how to fix this. Does anyone know? :)

Happening to me too. Bought this phone for a serious amount of money and the camera is not great! Uploading to 3rd party apps... awful. Images are sooooo pixilated and grainy, really really disappointing and when I speak to Apple they just act as if there is no issues. Either got the options of taking the phone back for a refund from where I bought it from or sticking it out I guess. They want to do Troubleshooting but it's just ticking the boxes on their side i'm sure.

I bought thinking it would be a great benefit as I try to shoot professional nailfie pics for instagram. I tried for months to get a better pic, tutorials etc... I would of returned it but had a auto accident and could not drive, so I am stuck, had to resort to buying a Samsung phone just for pictures. this is only for text and phone now.... what a waste of $1K plus.

I was thinking of trying the new 15, (trading in) but not interested in paying again for a useless camera on phone. Anyone find a resolution to this 14 pro-max disappointment yet?

its been terrible for me too. I’ve played around with settings but have had zero luck. My selfies are awful. The screen image is very nice but as soon as I take the picture the image immediately changes to a grayish color over the skin. All warmth and natural skin tone disappear. Both Skin and hair appear gray. I look aged by decades. I asked my friend’s 10year old to try it out they looked terrible in the selfie also. landscape pictures are pretty good. But definitely not a camera flattering for selfies.

The problem seems fixed 90% in the iphone 15. I have the Plus one and the camera is ok, still below S23 Ultra , but not that bad like it was with the 13 and 14 series. I'll keep this one for now, hopefully Apple won't mess up the AI processing... even now I can't understand how come their "camera expert lead engineer" can say the 13 and 14 series take decent photos. The only possible explanation is that they know very well, but didn't bother to fix it for these models but instead did it for the new 15 series...quite pathetic tbh

Very disappointed with iPhone 14 Pro Max! The picture quality lacks crispness, and it even appears to be somewhat distorted. I recall when the iPhone 11 came out I realized very soon after purchasing it that the picture quality was bad, and I quickly returned it. I then went back to my iPhone X. Apple was well aware of all of the issues with iPhone 11 so I assumed that they would never put out an inferior product again which led me to be more relaxed when I purchased it. Now, I have had it too long to return it, and I am disappointed to be stuck with a camera with poor picture quality.
