safari bookmarks disappeared (only links inside folders)

Hi, Something strange happened. All my bookmarks that where inside folders -the others still appear - have disappeared from safari (V.16). I'm using Monterey. I was using them and suddenly all where gone (from iPhone and MacBook Pro). In iCloud.com nothing appears even though I have safari synced to iCloud.

Tried to go to Time Machine but can not find the safari folder (it's not in library as it should, I believe)

several dozens of work links gone...

please help

Hi Nuxo,

Thanks for posting in Apple Support Communities.

If you synced your bookmarks with iCloud, you can try to restore them using iCloud.

"Restore your contacts or bookmarks from an earlier version

  1. Sign in to iCloud.com.
  2. Scroll down to the bottom of the window, then select Data Recovery.
  3. Select Restore Contacts or Restore Bookmarks.
  4. Select Restore next to the date before you deleted the content.
  5. Select Restore again to confirm. After the restore completes, you get a notification on iCloud.com and an email at the address on file with your Apple ID."

You can find these steps in If you accidentally deleted your calendars, bookmarks, or contacts from iCloud.

Contact Apple Support for additional help.

Regards.

Hi Astro24,

Thanks for your reply.

I've tried that and nothing appears on iCloud (only the recent ones I deleted yesterday).

The strange thing is when I went to edit the markers in safari I found all the markers, out of the favourites banner and not in the folders as I had them but all mixed up.

And this happened suddenly without me doing anything or updating safari/osx/iOS

strange...

safari bookmarks disappeared (only links inside folders)
