ask to buy requests not received from a child device

My child account is configured for me to approve all "ask to buy" requests.

It all worked nice till today, when I do not receive any request from my child iPad. I still receive requests from my child iPhone.

On the iPad, all the usual prompts appear, up to the point where parent permission is asked. Neither on my iPhone or my macbook I see those requests.

I tried logging in/out from the apple ID on the child iPad.

I tried restarting the child iPad.

I tried logging in/out from the apple ID on my iPhone and macbook.

I tried restarting my iPhone.

Nothing. No notification on my iPhone / macbook for my child request from the iPad.

All devices on the latest iOS or macOS.

I looked at the article If Ask to Buy isn't working - Apple Support but it does not help.

What else can can I try?

Recently there's been an issue with ATB notifications not arriving at certain devices, so I'll start with an undocumented possible solution mentioned by several people where editing the name of a mobile device worked for them:

Settings > General > About > Name

Change the name

Then "Done" and retry.

Otherwise If Ask to Buy isn't working, read the suggestions in the document: If Ask to Buy isn't working - Apple Support about looking for the request in Messages or Notification Center.

Make sure notifications haven't been disabled. This article discusses notifications: Use notifications on your iPhone or iPad - Apple Support

and this one Change notification settings on iPhone - Apple Support

Make sure the software is up to date on all devices involved.

Sometimes it helps to have the devices involved take a fresh look at settings:

● Try signing out of accounts and back in again.

Sign out of iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, iPod touch, Apple TV, or Mac - Apple Support

Sign in with your Apple ID - Apple Support

● Restarting is a simple step that can resolve many unexpected behaviors.

iPhone: Restart your iPhone - Apple Support then choose your model.

iPad: Restart your iPad - Apple Support

Mac: Ways to start up your Mac - Apple Support

If a problem persists, particularly over several days, try contacting Apple for assistance:

Click here --> Choose your country or region - Official Apple Support Select your country, then a product. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

or:

"See a list of Apple phone numbers around the world."

I'll add that recently there have been an unusual number of posts about this issue and it is possible Apple has recently changed something. I recommend providing feedback about this. Click on this link for Apple products feedback links --> http://www.apple.com/feedback/

Apple may not respond but your comment will be read.

@Limnos, thanks for the suggestions.

Changing the device name did not help, tried changing both the child iPad name and my iPhone name without any improvement.

Enabling notifications is not an issue, I get ATB notifications from the iPhone of the same child, only the ones from the iPad are missing.

All devices are on the latest iOS and iPadOS. I also tried already logging out/back on both Apple IDs and restarting all devices.

I’ll wait till next week 16.3 release, hopefully something changes there.

Considering now much these devices cost, it’s crazy that my child can’t install a new app unless I manually fiddle with the family settings and let her install any app without supervision.

:-(

Messaged Apple support... after a long unnecessary conversation, I was told this is a known issue that will be fixed by a software update sometimes in the future.

No clue about how long this will take, no indication which update will contain the fix and no option offered to track progress. In summary the advise is to WAIT for an eventual fix.
