How can I text to a deleted thread person?

In an effort to clean up data on my iPad, I deleted several "old" text threads. I am learning that by deleting those threads I have somehow instructed my iPad to no longer accepts texts from that person and to block my ability to send future text messages to that person. That was NOT my intent - I was just doing some "housekeeping." How to I recreate my ability to send and receive texts with that person? Thank you VERY much! I could not find this problem listed on Google or Apple FAQs.

Thanks for reaching out in Apple Support Communities and sharing what took place after clearing out some of your older text messages. However, we do need to know a little more about what happens when you try so we know how to help. The link below is a good place to start, even if it's only for one or two contacts.

If you can't send or receive messages on your iPhone or iPad

Should none of those steps help resolve this issue for you, let us know more.

What happens when you try to send a text message to the contact? Does a message appear? If so, what does it say?
What happens when the person tries to text you? Do they see a message?
Is this happening with iMessage (blue) or SMS (green)?
