Apple Watch SE

I took my son’s Apple Watch SE from him and terminated the service. However, I can’t access the watch or sell it because I don’t have his Apple ID which he of course isn’t sharing. How do I access the watch so that I can give it to my sister-in-law rather than have a watch that can’t be used? Verizon said there’s nothing they can do and this is an Apple issue. Thanks

If this watch is possessed by your son and your son has his own Apple ID, it is activation locked to his Apple ID. Only the original owner can remove the activation lock. If your son is older than 13, the chances that you can remove the activation lock are thin. Apple only removes the lock when you're the original owner and can provide valid proof of purchase information
