I want to rename the pictures within smart album

I want to rename the filename on photos within a smart album.

However , when i export out with default album name + picture number . and attempt to reintroduce back into the original album, i get an error message.

When i try this with standard "non smart albums" there is no issue.

Why are you changing the filename? Just change the image title in the Info box, and then when or if you export at a later date you can set the export to use the title as filename. Saves a whole lot of messing about.

Re: I want to rename the filename on photos within a smart album

Wondering if Apple Support's online article can help:

Create Smart Albums to group photos automatically in Photos on Mac – Apple Support

says:

"Change the criteria for a Smart Album

    1. In the Photos app  on your Mac, select the Smart Album.
    2. Choose File > Edit Smart Album.
    3. Make your changes, then click OK".

Else: You might want to move the photos you want to rename to another album:

Move photos to a different album in Photos on Mac – Apple Support

All the best :-)
