iPad and iPhone sync issue in Notes

I set up my iPhone and iPad to sync Notes and until recently everything was working perfectly. However, my iPad has stopped pushing updates to iCloud. Both devices have been updated to iOS 16.2 and both use the same Apple ID. I can see changes in Notes made on my iPhone show up on my iPad but changes made using my iPad stay local and do not appear on my iPhone. What is going on?

Do you have any VPN apps or security software installed? This can possibly affect your network connection and stop your notes from syncing. If so, you can try temporarily removing the VPN app and configuration profile to see if the issue persists. This article explains how: How to delete an app that has a configuration profile on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch.

"

To delete an app and its configuration profile, follow these steps.

  1. Delete the app
    • Touch and hold the app until it jiggles.
    • Then tap the delete button  in the upper-left corner of the app to delete it. If you see a message that says, "Deleting this app will also delete its data," tap Delete.

2. If the app has a configuration profile, delete it.

    • Go to Settings > General > Profiles or Profiles & Device Management,* then tap the app’s configuration profile.
    • Then tap Delete Profile. If asked, enter your device passcode, then tap Delete.

3. Restart your iPhoneiPad, or iPod touch.

Take care.

Smdoma,

We appreciate you trying those steps. Next, let's see if this continues after updating each device to the latest version of iOS and iPadOS, 16.3. This installs feature improvements and bug fixes that can resolve unexpected behavior like this. These steps from Update your iPhone or iPad show how to back up and update:

1. Back up your device using iCloud or your computer.
2. Plug your device into power and connect to the internet with Wi-Fi.
3. Go to Settings > General, then tap Software Update.
4. If you see more than one software update option available, choose the one that you want to install.
The Settings app on iPhone showing options to update to iOS 15.7 or iOS 16.

5. Tap Install Now. If you see Download and Install instead, tap it to download the update, enter your passcode, then tap Install Now. If you don't know your passcode, learn what to do.

If this issue continues after updating your devices, then Apple Support would be the best equipped to investigate what's happening further. Reach out using this: Apple Support

Cheers!
