Every Numbers table has 4 white buttons at the four corners: upper left - select the whole table, lower left - add a row, upper right - add a column, and lower right - mystery button. There are no tool tips and I can't find any mention of it in the Help file. Clicking it appears to do nothing. What does it do?

A table would look a bit odd without it. But it also has functionality (that duplicates the functionality of the upper-right and lower-left buttons). Dragging it right (left) adds (removes) column(s). Dragging it down (up) adds (removes) row(s).

The Numbers interface is indeed deceptively simple. There's definitely more there than meets the eye, so in many cases just trying things can lead to unexpected discoveries..
