How to get rid of McAfee pop up notifications? I don't remember installing it, or if I did, I uninstalled it ages ago and now suddenly there the notifications are again. Every post I've seen tells you to go to Applications and use the uninstaller...but what do you do when you can't see the McAfee application anywhere and have no installer?

The same issue with the "McAfee..." pop-ups appearing for about 5-10 seconds every minute or so was also being experienced. The issue was finally tracked down to Safari's Settings/Website seeing the websites listed. I eliminated them one-by-one until the "McAfee..." pop-ups were not appearing. It was the "Notifications" website item that was the culprit. After that "Notifications" website was removed, the annoying pop-ups were completely gone. Just for good measure, all of the remaining websites listed were also removed. The checked box for "Allow websites to ask permission to send notifications" was also unchecked.
I have this also - did you manage to get rid of it? If so, how? Thank you!

I've cleared the cache and taken other advised steps to no avail. This one though, has worked.

Thanks John Galt. I am getting those pop ups with System Preference ICON. I have cleared my Browser history on all of my browsers as directed by Apple support. I still get those pop ups. So how do I get rid of them or do I have a real problem?

thanks a million even Norton experts could not do it and wanted me to call back because they thought they saw the problem but the annoying banner kept popping up just before he hung up. By that time he used up too many. remote sessions so he asked me to call back. Rather than do that I poise the question to the Internet and got your great answer which worked. Thank you. God bless.
I think there is a defect in MacBook Air that allows these pop-ups and other issues. I used a MacBook Pro for 15 years and did not have these issues. I got a MacBook Air 15-inch in July 2023 with 512GB upgraded storage, not long after the 15-inch MacBook Air was released. It's been nothing but problems. I was inundated with McAfee pop-ups soon after getting it, and soon after I had multiple issues with the computer stalling, running slow, screen randomly darkening and lightening, etc. Three times in less than 3 months I went into an Apple store and they erased the software and reinstalled it, saying it was fixed. Within hours of using it, I'd have the same problems starting up again. On my fourth visit, they gave me a new MacBook Air 15-inch. I've been using it for about three days, and today the McAfee pop-ups appeared, and I know it will only get worse from here. I was told MacBook Air and MacBook Pro are using the same Safari software and it's not the software. Then what is it? There are known issues with hardware on the new 15-inch MacBook Air. I don't know about earlier Air models. How is it I can go 15 years without pup-up and other problems on a MacBook Pro but on a MacBook Air I can't get rid of the problems. I loved my MacBook Pro, but I think my MacBook Air is an awful computer in comparison due to the constant pop-ups and other issues. Apple needs to fix the issues with MacBook Air, maybe a recall to fix. There are complaints like this all over the internet about the MacBook Air. I don't think I'll be a MacBook Air user long. Sad!
Happened to me too. I only have three websites that I allow notifications in my notifications center. I’ll just tell you now one is Apple, the other 2 are work related and I trust them.

My son told me to use the Mac cleaner, but it didn't solve the problem.

Uninstall the Mac cleaner. Follow its uninstallation instructions. Rule 1 of Macs is don't install junk.
