I work in a Salvation Army Opportunity Shop. We are getting quite a few early model iphones, ipads and the occasional iwatch dropped into our recycling bin. A lot of the time a factory reset has not been done and the items are locked to the donor's account.
Will a factory reset clear the apple ID account and password so that we can sell these items to customers who in the main, come from disadvantaged backgrounds?
I appreciate your efforts but no, a factory reset will not clear the Apple ID account and password. Unless the original owner deactivates the device, I’m afraid it is useless to anyone else.

Hello ~ In addition to *Carol B’s* excellent and on point post…these devices have not been properly prepared for resale and the only thing to really do is make sure to recycle them properly for they cannot be used by anyone.
Or if your site has a recycling program in place you may recycle them there.
