The cable from the back of my 27" thunderbolt display to my MacBookPro is wearing out. Is there a simple replacement I can order that would plug into a port in the back of the display and into my computer and allow me to use the display?

This may be too simple of a solution, but when my Powerbook power cable split open near the computer end I grabbed my black electrical tape and wrapped it. That was over a year ago. Still working.
I will give it a try. But I am curious if I can buy a cable to solve the problem. I really don't want to replace the monitor to fix it.

You buy a TB2 cable and connect directly to the TB port on the back of the display bypassing the "octopus" cable and the other end to the TB2 to TB3 adapter if required.
